In 1996, there were four employees of the Tardy Furniture Store in Winona, Mississippi who were killed during an armed robbery. A guy named Curtis Giovanni Flowers was tried and convicted for the murder of one of the employees and sentenced to death. The suspect was black and three of the four victims were white. The Mississippi Supreme Court reversed and remanded for a new trial regarding the case with the reason that the rights of Flower to a fair trial was violated through the admission of evidence of the other three murder victims.
